Retirement Savings
Will my retirement savings be enough?
Project your nest egg at retirement and how many years it will last given your expected withdrawal rate.
A few things to remember
This projection assumes a steady annual return — real markets don’t work that way. A 6% average over 30 years usually involves several years of -15% and several of +25%. The math averages out, but only if you stay invested through the dips.
Most Canadians qualify for CPP and OAS in retirement (currently combined max around $25-30K/year for a single person). Subtract those from your “annual withdrawal” input to see what your portfolio actually needs to cover.
A 4% withdrawal rate is the historical “safe” benchmark for a 30-year retirement. Higher rates carry more risk of outliving your money.
