Investment Return
What will my investments be worth?
See the future value of a one-time deposit + monthly contributions. Then see how much tax drag costs you if it’s not in a TFSA.
Why this calculator matters
Most calculators online show you “future value” without acknowledging that in Canada, your investment account type matters enormously. The same portfolio held in a TFSA vs a non-registered account can differ by tens of thousands at retirement because of annual tax on interest and dividends.
The tax drag estimate here assumes roughly 40% of your annual return comes from taxable dividends + interest, which is typical for a balanced 60/40 portfolio. An all-equity Canadian index fund has lower drag (more capital gains, less yield); a bond-heavy portfolio has higher drag.
